"The Boys Next Door", day two

It was fairly cold in the Theatre tonight as the first blocking rehearsal took place. Spring is teasing us with a few days of warm weather, then runs away and is replaced by a chilly wind that rustles around the building as we meet to go over scenes.

Had you been at the Theatre tonight, you'd have found Becca with her tape measure around her neck, accosting people as they walked in, getting measurements for costumes. You might have seen a meeting of the minds discussing the water pressure issues the Theatre is plagued with. And had you seated yourself in the auditorium, you'd have been able to watch as a few brave souls tentatively worked out the first rough edges of their characters.

We met Mrs. Warren, the nice lady next door, as well as most of the Boys themselves - Barry, Arnold and Norman. Tonight our Lucien was elsewhere. Jack spent some time doing damage control.

In real life, these people are Katie, Jamison, Ron, Mike and Jon. Tonight they were working on characters and movement. Already they show promise. Already you can see hints of the characters they will become, of the emotion these scenes will carry.

And hey, this is only the first day blocking anything, so that's exciting.
